The chest/heart protection devices for baseball were not something that were around when my son was small. I do see the value in such things and wanted to make you all aware of a company called Evoshield. They have a fantastic product and you can find it at the link below. Manny Ramirez wears their elbow guard(among a host of other MLB and D1 players). I have seen this product personally and it is unbelievable. The guards come in a foil pouch. When the pouch is opened, you have about 20 minutes before the guard becomes rigid. This allows the guard to be custom formed to each player's chest, back, arm, leg, thumb or whatever. Once the guards have become rigid, they use dispersion technology which reduces the force of impact by around 75%. Their products are fantastic and some of the top MLB guys are already wearing them. I believe that in five years, people will know the name Evoshield like they know the name Under Armour today.
