If you are a coach of a LL team you might find it beneficial for the kids to ,instead of practicing once in awhile , have them attend a HS or College Game in the area--- I used to find it a great way to show kids things and use it as a teaching tool

It works especially well if you kids know one or more of the players on the older team

I agree 100%. The youngsters get a real eye-opener to see how they should/will be playing in a few years. Also if you coordinate with the coach and take them to a practice to watch and meet the players, it is actually good for the bigger kids as well. Great role model stuff and a nice change of pace for both groups IMO.

Every year we take our entire league to a local Minor League Game.... The kids always love it and they watch the game so intently (between hotdog and souvenir requests )

It is sometimes hard to get done. But if you are in an area where you could get the local HS Freshman coach to come in a couple of times during the pony league "FAll" ball season practices and give some suggestions and help. It will help get the players get aquainted with him and will give him a chance to see who's coming his way.

Doing it together also promotes discussion that everone is on the same page with. HS games work real well. You can grab a section of grass, talk about situations as a group, and watch and discuss the plays together as they happen. You can also pick up good and bad habits as they happen. I always liked to see the kid that walks off the field and ask the kids if that was the way they wanted to be looked at. Great idea TR.

Some high schools in our area have a community service requirement. And a lot of the HS ball players will help coach LL or other youth teams.

The younger kids really respond well to that.

And the HS players, if nothing else get a community involvement acheivement for their college admissions.

Its always good to give a little back....

Check with HS coach and see if any will volunteer.

In the LA area, UCLA encourages youth teams to come out and see their games. You may be able to get the kids in free if you set it up in advance. bbscout mentioned once who the right person to contact at UCLA might be. It might have been their publicity director but I don't really remember.
