I may take my son to a Braves/Brewers game in August. Trying to decide between that or the Braves at Cincy.

Anyway, can anyone share with me how difficult it is to get to Turner Field?

Also, any good hotel/ticket packages that you're aware of?

Not hard to get to Turner Field at all ~ it is right off I 75/85 downtown Atlanta.

Not sure of any hotel/ticket packages ~ probably could check out the Braves website.

Not at home at the moment ~ but will check further when I get home later this evening.

Gosh L, thanks for that info. I hadn't gone to their site yet, so I'll do that. When I was in Nashville this weekend, another mom looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was thinking about going to Atlanta and acted as though traveling there was horrid! I started to feel slightly intimidated and thought perhaps I should nix that idea!

Son has been a huge Braves fan forever, so it would be a special trip!

Thanks again!

If you haven't been to Turner Field, it is an experience you will not forget. The whole game experience is fabulous ~ definitely recommend taking in a game there.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Go early - the stadium is great. Aslo look into going to the aquarium - I haven't been yet but heard its very very very good. Try to get a hotel downdown (if $$$ permit). Lots to do.

Hotels south (airport) are normally the cheapest but it is probably worth the extra money for the downtown experience.

Have fun and Go Braves!

One word of caution: Parking is expensive, but pay to stay in a fenced/gated lot at the stadium. You can find free spots on the street within a few blocks' walk, but you'll wish you hadn't when the game ends late at night. I did the cheapskate thing and got off Scot free, but the guy who parked next to me had his window bashed in and his car's contents rifled.

If I didnt know the area, I would get a downtown hotel, park the car, and do shuttles and taxi cabs.

If you do want to drive to the game let me know and I can give you my "top secret" parking area - 5 minute walk, secure and easy to get out of. I would post it here but then I would have to kill everyone and that just doesnt seem right.

Thanks to all of you so much!

Catch - I will PM you if it works out. My daughter has volleyball tryouts in two weeks, so then we'll know our August schedule. Finding a hotel that would shuttle us there might be best. I'll check with ya in a couple weeks though!

Lafmom,
My son and I are huge Braves fans and often make the drive down to see them play. If you buy your tickets from the Braves website (actually ticketmaster) you can also purchase a $10.00 parking ticket that enables you to park right across from the field in the Blue lot. Of course, if you drive a Lexus, you can park for free in the Lexus lot. Get there early, there is a lot to do and see and Turner Field. Worth the trip!!!

OK, folks, I got our tickets. I did buy a parking pass as pudgemom suggested. It's in the "orange" section? So, catcherdad, if you think your parking would be better, PLEASE send me a PM with that info. Otherwise, we'll find our way to the orange place! Smile

Also, what is the name of the Aquarium? Depending on it's hours on Sunday, we might be able to visit.

Thanks again folks for all of your help! We're excited to see your guys play! clap

Not real creative with the name were they? Wink

I looked online and the place does look fabulous! I will have to see if we can work things out to add this in a very short trip.

Thanks kiddo!

lamom ~ check on the aqaurium before you leave home if possible. We have heard that it is sold out months in advance!

We're waiting "for the dust to settle" some before we try to visit Big Grin

You will love Turner Field!! Enjoy your visit!!

L - The Acquarium still has tickets available, but their website does say it's best to purchase in advance. Going to wait just a bit before we make that decision to see for sure if daughter can go with son and I.

If we can't make it this summer, I'm thinking perhaps we need to try and get there again when we can have more time. There's a lot to do in Atlanta!

Lafmom,

I looked at the map on the Braves website, and the orange lot (even though it looks distant) is still one of the closer lots. I just always think that having parking lined up before I get there gives me one less thing to worry about. Enjoy your trip to Atlanta!!!!

Mom - I didn't even realize that the parking was on the site. I had reviewed the seating chart. Thanks - I'll take a look at that!

I agree about having parking and as much lined up as you can with trips! I like to avoid those little surprises!!! Smile

If you get the chance one other thing you really will want to do.

If the game is a night game you can go visit the Hall of Fame and Museum at Turner Field during the day. It includes a tour of the stadium top to bottom!!! We really enjoyed it.
