Midlo I scored it an e2. Because of inclement weather during the week the UIC was informed that the Championship game for the 16 & Under WWBA last summer was going to be played on Monday rather than Sunday. The UIC was released because he failed to ensure that his umpires would be there Monday morning for the Championship game. All teams that played on Sunday were informed that would be the case rather than ask any team or any 16 year old to play 4 games in one day. And that's the real reason the umpires were released.

ATLBluejays response pretty much proved everyone's comments about Coach Dye were correct. A player with your mouth and attitude would not be allowed to play for a respectable program. As my sons reach the age to play against the Jays, it will be interesting to see if they are even in existance. This kind of publicity will make it very difficult to field a team, at least one with athletes that want to further their career collegiately or professionally.
Have fun and PLAY BALL!

longtimebbparent, You obviously are talking about things you know nothing about. First, Anthony Dye has never been thrown out of a game for sure the past 3 years my kid has played for him. He has never told his kids not to shake hands after a loss - or ever. He did quickly remove his team from the field after a heated game to avoid another situation that has plagued him for over 5 years. He made the right choice and protected the kids. Parents were not aware of the jabs going on during the game (by the other team's players) and he was on top of it. Second, it's funny how you say all his former players hate him when many of them still call him and talk very highly of him. Tell me, what other team or coach in the area, or the state, has enabled ALL of its senior players to play at the next level? 100% of the players? Anthony and his coaches help these players pursue their dreams and work hard to find the right college placement for each and every one of them. You won't find a better baseball coach in the entire state of Georgia. He prepares them physically AND mentally for college ball. If you were indeed a player you would know what it takes to play college ball...

As a former player for the Bluejays I have my own opinions on what they are like. I won't disclose anything because its in the past, but there were definately very good times, but there were also times where it was painful to practice and play for them.

Ok, the Atlanta Blue Jays was a great team to play for. Anthony Dye was a rough coach yes. But hey that type of baseball prepares you as a player for the next level. As a former Blue Jay and played at all the levels there is a complete change from HS to College. And Im NOT talking about just the talent. College is NOT daddy ball, travel ball, is. High school and travel both were full of politics and favoritism. To whoever said that AD showed favoritism towards some players that would get him somewhere and his name out, you are kind of right. I was on the other end of that deal. But looking back at it, I slacked more than some. AD would push and show his favorites to the ones that WORKED. Thats no more than any other coach does though. If you worked, he liked you. You didnt talk and run your mouth and came to the practices and games to play ball, he liked you. But to AD thats what its not about is liking you or anything. He was there pushing us no matter what because now as a college player, Im very prepared and preforming better than ever thanks to him. And whoever said the coaching staff was horrible?? IDK which staff you were talking about because Steve Lourieo was one of the best coaches Ive ever had. He pushed me, prayed for me during hard times that I encountered, and motivated me to do what he knew I could. Ok the fight was a big deal, so what, I wasnt there so Im not really going to comment on that except for the fact that if I have another team talking trash at me, and then clearing the benches, you best believe Id want my coach there to help me when someones coming at me with a bat. Anthony Dye and Steve Lourieo are both great coaches that motivated and prepare players PROPERLY for the next level. Thanks,

The 2007 Edition of the Blue Jays looks stacked. Not only with Tim Beckham at shortstop but their entire outfield is ranked. Ron Frost, Antonio Burke, Alex Glenn. All very good players!

I am with the Georgia Cougars and have friends on the Blue Jays as well as playing them twice this fall spliting with them. Coach Dye was present in the one we won and he acted in a very professional manner. The other one they thumped us and the team and staff did not act any different than when we won.
My point is I have heard things about the Jays but have not seen anything that would make me think they were not a top notch program. Jay Austin, Ron Frost, Antonio Burke and William Smalls are all friends of my son. I know when they beat us with Brewer on the mound he was bringing the heat!
Hope they do well in Jupiter.

Maybe he has toned down over the years, I don't know. He has to be doing something right. I've heard that some of the players that I thought were new to their team this year actually used to play for him and the Blue Jays several years ago (11, 12, 13?)before they moved to East Cobb. If this is true he must be doing several things right in how he is developing players.
They also have a couple of players each from Harrison and Walton that I personally haven't seen play but I hear that they're very good and team leaders on their high school squads. I don't recall their names.

You Don't Want Your Son to Play for the Blue Jays!
I realize it can sometimes be difficult to find a baseball team. But, I would recommend you keep looking and don't decide to play for the Atlanta Blue Jays & especially Anthony Dye. Playing for Anthony would probably be your son's the worst nightmare. There is a click of players and parents on the Blue Jays that has stayed with Anthony for years and are not treated in the same abusive way. Anthony's few fans don't care how he abuses other kids as long as he doesn't hurt their kid. It weird. Those players & parents just stick together and watch Anthony abuse players every year. I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT YOU & YOUR SON WILL REGRET it if he decides to play for him. A few stars have played for Anthony but they would have been great players on any team. Anthony has unpredictable emotional highs and lows and will selects different players to bully and victimize. He gets in terrible moods and releases his anger and aggression by physically & emotionally breaking players for his own sick enjoyment. How many coaches would have meeting for just his black players because he blames losing on his white players? (That is the truth) No one has the courage to stand up & try to stop Anthony's abusive behavior. If you want to play, you're usually afraid of him turning on you or making you sit out indefinitely. Parents are intimidated to talk to Anthony and quickly learn that talking to Anthony will negatively affect their kid. Save your Son & Don't play for the Blue Jays & Anthony!

My son played on the 15U Atl Blue Jays. As others have described, Anthony Dye is a bizarre abusive character. He can't keep coaches, allegedly because he won't pay them, levies fines on them, micro-manages them, etc. I can confirm that if a kid strikes out or commits an error, makes them run poles and or stadium stairs -- I don't see how that makes better players. He got Tim Beckham on the BJs after coaching his older brother. While he demands other kids, prep and clean the field, he allows Tim to rest in the dugout. He plays favorites by allowing some players to miss practice and severely punishes others. He calls practice on short notice and is always changing practice sites (don't understand why exactly but you can speculate). Tim Beckham is a great athlete but commits needless errors due to hot-dogging (double/triple clutching before throwing on the run) -- makes for dramatic outs but also causes errors due to poor throws. These errors knocked the BJs out of the WWBA at ECB in '07. So who does Anthony blame -- other players. His roster is a revolving door. My son got little playing time and was relegated to being a pinch runner only after the first few games although he has been graded as a 9 by Perfect Game (three times) and had offers from 9 (yes, nine) D-1 colleges.
Anyway, find a team where your son will get playing time and good practice. All kids develop on different schedules.

This past fall Anthony called me and/or my son several times wanting him to come play. He wouldn't take no for an answer it seemed. I finally had to ask him to quit calling because we were not interested. He was incredulous that we did not want to play for him. I even had one of the revered old timers on hsbbw here advise me against letting my son play for Anthony, among many others.
