AJC Players to Watch Xavier Avery, Cedar Grove: This Georgia football signee could be taken in the Major League draft. The athletic Avery was an AJC Super Southern 100 football recruit. Last season in baseball, he had a DeKalb County-leading 49 stolen bases.
Cody Davis, Redan: The senior catcher is high on the draft list of several Major League teams. A year ago, he hit .437 with seven doubles and a pair of home runs. He also scored 28 runs and had 20 RBIs for Redan, which advanced to the second round of the Class AAAAA playoffs.
Chris Holloway, Columbia: He is the top returning hitter in DeKalb County this season. A year ago, he hit .532 in 77 at-bats, with five home runs, four triples and four doubles. Holloway also scored 37 runs and had 25 RBIs.
Dadynoel Lorenzo, Tucker: The senior shortstop —- another Major League prospect —- was the Tigers' leading hitter last season with a .446 average. Lorenzo had 25 RBIs and scored 27 runs to go with five home runs.
