Doyle baseball is great if your are a coach, attend their seminar and get the $1 million dollar insurance policy. Other than the insurance, they are worthless. I think Doyle's approach to hitting is a joke.

Thanks for the feedback. My impression is that they are no way close to PG. Do they try the same approach with athletes?

Give me a little detail on what you mean about their hitting approach? Is it Samanski (sp?) or that top hand/front foot/rotational I've heard pushed lately?

I met one of their scouts and the red flags were going up, just can't put my finger on all of it yet

Brian Doyle's claim to fame is to stand about 2 feet from you and swing a bat and not hit you. He teaches no stride, just hip and pivot foot rotation and hitting the ball well out front. Basically you become a slap hitter and if you don't run a 6.5/60, then you are wasting your time.

The local Atlanta Doyle scout is a clown. Very unreliable. There are much better programs out there.

Lead Foot, It is apparent to me as I read these comments that the scout you and flying squirrel and budwhite are referring to did not impress anyone. You didn't give any info to what "age" of a person you are talking about. I am assuming you have a older son?? If thats the case I cannot shed any light on the Doyle scouts. What I can attest to personally is the Doyle camps in Florida where my son has attended and I was totally impressed with the doyle's. Not just as teacher's of the game but as good christian people trying to give some guidance to young men. I think they are great teachers of the fundamentals of the game. I know that it instilled a love and passion for my son that he still has to this day and the right attitude about hard work. My son is 16. Don't let one person dictate your opinion and if possible look on there website and check out one of there showcases. If you are like me I am constantly looking, listening, amd trying to always find whats best to help my son. I know if my son has a chance down the road for the Doyle's to help him into college there name is well respected. As for there hitting? It worked for my son. i think what ever works for a individual is whats best for him at that time. It seems the Mike Epstein approach is very hot now also. Good Luck!!

FTLOTG, I think their program is good over all, particularly their camps in Florida. Their representative in Atlanta, let's just call him Coach "A" has caused good atheletes to make poor decisions within their HS teams that cost them opportunities. He makes promises to induce them then fails to follow through costing them opportunities with quality teams along the way. He claims strong recruiting connections and delivers little for even his best recruits. Best advice is always check out references before signing on with any " scouts / coaches ". Their are a lot of charlatans out there.

My comments are not to influence anyone. I was simply replying to a question and giving my point of view. I have met the Doyle's on several occasions, mostly from the AABC requirement to carry coaches insurance and the Doyles supplied the coaches in the Atlanta area with insurance and a clinic along with $30 if I remember correctly on the figure. I don't believe I stated anything derogatory against the Doyles personally. I appreciated the insurance but not BS concerning hitting the clinic passed out to the coaches. I have met numerous college coaches, scouts, and other exceptional coaches since those days. None and I mean NONE subscribed to the Doyle theory of hitting that his clinics provided. To me it is the great american capitalist story, former bench player for Yankees gets opportunity and makes the most if it. Since I believe in capitalism, I applaud him in that respect.

I think FTLOTG is on the right track. I no nothing of their older kids stuff, but when the kids are young, they are great teachers. I still go over their fielding tape from time to time with my son. They have the best approach to fielding that I have seen. Simple and gets you in position to make the play. As far as there hitting, well there are many ways to get in the right position. What they try to accomplish is to put a young hitter in that correct position when contact is made. There fundamentals are sound. There are MLB players that swing like they teach. It is about getting your hip into the ball, and not having a long swing as FS was talking about with swinging close to a fence. They teach keeping your feet going while fielding, but not hitting. Having said that, I still like a little trigger in a swing if you can stay in the right position EVERYTIME you start your swing. If you have young players, I recommend them to help your kids...
