How has the summer team been for your son? How was the showcase? Does anyone go or do you get invited?

Hey Knapper, haven't heard from you in a while. Summer team was good. Son pitched well. Fielded well, hitting was a struggle.

He did go to the showcase. Pitched very well. Went two innings, no hits, struck out 4. Fastball was 84-86.

You do have to get an invite. I believe that usually comes from someone recommending you. I believe his summer coach recommended and they have to approve it probably based on past Perfect Game performances. Not exactly sure how it works. There were 126 kids there from 18 states for the Underclass event. From what I have read and heard from talking to people, he had the 4th highest velocity at the underclass. Won't know for sure till they post the evaluations and profiles. Probably not for another 6 weeks or so. Underclass was comprised of Sophmores and Juniors.

Good to hear from you again. Keep in touch. Hopefully you'll get to see him pitch over at Roswell again this year.

That's great news. We didn't do any baseball over the summer except fill in on one tourney. He made the travel team so we'll see how all the extra games will effect him and our family life. I told the coach we don't want fall and spring ball as he's only 10 and the coach agrees with a few fall practices and then spring ball. He had a good tryout after not playing at all this summer. I asked him if he thought he made the team and he said - Yep, they need a good lefty pitcher. At least he's got confidence.
We'll definitely come watch your son pitch, if he doesn't pitch against Roswell, we'll find a local game and go watch.

Absolutely. Just email me via my personal info page and I'll let you know what's going on. I get email on my phone, so I will get it and get right back to you.

Great news about your son. Good to see he has confidence and a love for the game. That is what will keep him going. I think you want to do 2 things with him. 1 - make sure he is developing and learning with his team and 2- make sure it stays fun for him. Baseball is just a game and as soon as it stops being fun, kids will lose interest.

Good luck this fall and in the spring. What team is he on? BTW, there is a good local website that is more geared towards the younger player. Here is a link to it:

You will find a lot of good information on the local travel scene. Keep in touch. John.
