Well, SCAD is primarily a specialty college. Are you interested in Art & Design? That might make a difference.
The Savannah area is interesting. It's old and there is a lot of history. It's a very pretty city for the most part, quite small and on the river. It's about an hour from the beach. Nice weather in the late fall, winter, and early spring and humid and very hot in early fall, late spring and summer. The school is not huge and its setting is urban, but not urban in the sense of skyscrapers and a super busy downtown. This is small-scale urban. Folks are very friendly, the pace is slow, and there are lots of tourists in this city. It's not an expensive place to live unless you want to buy a house in a historic area or on the marshes. There is a significant impoverished underbelly to the city, as well, along with crime and drugs that you'd expect. Certain areas aren't the best and can be dangerous.
They have the largest St. Pats celebration in the Southeast, if that tells you anything! Historically, the coastal area of GA has an early and prevailing history of Scotts-Irish settlement.
I know nothing about SCADs ball program or facilities. I know the school is very well-respected and I know the city pretty well. Hope that helps!
