So what do you guys think of this coming baseball season? Which teams do you think will compete for a state title?

Walton still has a lot of the players that took them all the way last year. They should have a pretty good shot at it again this season.

In AAAAA the perennial powerhouses look to stay that way and it is hard to see a clear frontrunner. Walton, Milton, Norcross and Luella would be my favorites with maybe Kennesaw Mountain and North Cobb not far behind. Kell, Lassiter, Harrison, Pope, McEachern, Milton, and Northview could also make some noise.

In AAAA Marist is always strong. Also watch out for East Paulding and Woodward Academy Not sure about schools in south Georgia.

In AAA Dunwoody, last years state champs, will be strong again. They've lost some significant talent -3 or 4 key positions -but they should have JV and transfer players to help fill the gaps. Also watch Weslyan and Blessed Trinity. Columbus, Sandy Creek, Henry County, Lakeside could be sleepers.

I think Weslyan(sp) is AA. But I do agree with your other AAA choices. I think Cartersville will be a contender as well.

Wow! How could I have left out Cartersville!?! They're always going deep into the playoffs, and they still have a few studs on their team that can help take them deep.

How about Whitewater as a sleeper also?

BillBill ... my son goes to Sandy Creek, and in my mind they qualify as a sleeper, because there are some "ifs" with them. But this year's team should be better than last year which made it to the 2nd round. As for me, I think Cartersville will be stout. I like Starr's Mill's pitching and consider them a sleeper (moreso than Whitewater).

Can't wait for Monday!

I thought Sandy Creek was one of the best teams Cartersville played last year. We seem to bring out their best. good luck this year

I thought Cartersville was the best I saw last season. I went to the game at SC where Farr had a no hitter with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th before giving up a double. He was unhittable. Good luck to you as well.

Hey! Looks like the Georgia boards are heating up a little bit. Just in time for the (hopefully upcoming) warm weather and baseball season. Glad to see it! For whatever reason there are not nearly as many posts on the Georgia boards as there are for some of the other 'baseball' states.

In AA:
Weslyan, Buford, Lovett, Holy Innocents, maybe GACS. This is a power-packed Region...all are 2AA and could easily compete way up.

Another possible sleeper in AAAAA may be North Gwinnett....does have to overcome some key graduation losses.Underclassman will have to step up and play some key roles. Coaching staff is very solid.

Program is starting to build some real momentum. 2009/2010 they may have something serious to say about who wins the AAAAA title.
