I watched the freshman tryout at the HS yesterday and was shocked on how poorly coached in the fundamentals they obviously were. When I quit coaching in our local park, we left a great program with some very good coaches at all levels. Much of the 3 local HS' success was the instruction given by these coaches (dads) when these kids were younger. This past year all three made it to the playoffs and two of them were in the state finals in two different classes. Evidently the coaches after us did not know or couldn't provide decent instruction to many of these kids. Question: Should the local HS coaches get involved in the local parks activities and tell these coaches (dads) what instruction these kids need prior to Freshman ball to help insure continuing success of the local HS teams?

Blackheart (FS), Joel said he saw you at our new facility. What did you think of the new building?

Back to the topic, I noticed that some of the ninth graders should be wearing helmets in the outfield. I wondered if they had been playing ball the last couple of years. We only had 52 come out, so we need them all.

I don't think the hs coaches should have to go to the rec parks, I think it should be the other way around. Also, parents should be proactive and go get help from qualified instructors if there kids are serious about the game.

Most parents/coaches at the rec league only know enough techniques to take their kids to a certain level. I know I was limited. I guess we might get a chance to talk on 3/12.

Joel saw Eric's father, I'm Eric's stepfather. We get along well and he is good man. His son
(Eric's halfbrother) plays on Hamilton's sons team and took BP at the new facility. I haven't seen it yet but Eric's dad said it was impressive. EC's new batting facility may be ready by weeks end. Didn't mean to give you a headache on the lineage correction. Smile EC has some junior and sophomores that are looking pretty good. If we can get some quality starts out of them, we may make a run for region but Starrs Mill is loaded. Tell Joel to keep working hard and I will see you both on March 12th.

I am sorry for the confusion. I hope both teams are having a lot of success by then. Look me up. Robbie
