Tennessee just release their head baseball coach from his contract due to lack of consistency ! How has UGA's Coach Perno done in everyone's opinion? I believe he is signed up through 2009 but should he be nervous after this seasons performance? or will he rebound? I've also been watching all the pre-draft info leading up to this weeks MLB draft and it appears that they could lose all their top recruits to the draft, what, if any impact will this have on the team?

If Georgia released Perno he would be signed immediately by another major college, he has won at Georgia with less talent than many other schools

The College World Series appearances sez a lot, as they should and we don't know what the feelings are with the people that call the shots at UGA which means much more ---- Consider too that my opinion means nothing but having watched my son compete against UGA for three years and being a natural critic, I made the comment in the past that I strongly disagreed with many of Coach Perno's basic on field strategies. He would swing away when it was an obvious bunt situation and challenge a batter when he should have been pitching around. His infield/outfield alignment wouldn’t match the situation. I saw him personally lose two games against my son’s team because of bonehead mistakes. I personally think Rod Delmonico is a better baseball coach than Dave Perno.

Is it secure ... I don't know.

Should it be? I say no. Fungo makes some good points about game mgt.

I think that his tenure will depend on his success this year. I think the pressure has been added with the 2 other changes coaching changes (TN and Florida) who could arguably be said were better coaches.

His assistant coaching changes the last 3 years I beleive show a reflection of the program (and him), inconsistent.

He fires a pitching coach that had a very strong reputation (and a track record at UNC) after 1 season due to personality conflict, after competing at the CWS in 2006. The pitching coach just completed a great season at a little school called Univ of Louisville and U of L's 1st CWS series appearance.

I don't like to be a critic either, but..... when you look at the coaching talent around the SEC & ACC and even in places like Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern or College of Charleston, it is hard to put Perno in that category. I think his time is limited.

I have seen coaches get upset with umpire calls. Face to face, kick the dirt on the ground, still argue when asked to go back to the dugout. Some coaches have firey tempers, but know whne to contain themselves, in public.

But the day I saw Paterno take a bucket of balls and toss them towards the umpire was the day I was glad he wasn't my son's coach. I was embarrassed for him, the players and the program.

I realize Leggett is sitting on Jesus' right shoulder but... come on. There may be legitimate reasons not to like a coach, but I can't say getting thrown out and having a temper tantrum would be the deciding factor, UNLESS it was a common occurance. If anything Perno is too low key.

I've seen many college coaches including a number get tossed and act in a way you would not want the players to emulate. Leggett (who is a good coach) I've seen get nose to nose and a bit out of control.

You might have to eliminate many coaches based on that criteria. I saw Coach Toman on TV from SC, go crazy get thrown out, throw his cap, bury the plate, give high 5's to his players and incite the home crowd while showing up the umpires... now of course he's coaching at Liberty where all good christians turn the other cheek. He is a fine coach and I would not select or deselect a coach based on 1 incident. This past year I beleive Perno was thrown out once (maybe?) when arguing a call, and there were no theatric's

If a coach gets canned because of his protecting his players, and that is usually why a coach goes ballistic, been there, done that, then something is drastically wrong
