www.usasportsrankings.com and www.travelballselect.com just named the 15u Georgia Roadrunners as National Champions! This is the second year in a row that the Roadrunners have topped both polls. Go Roadrunners!!!

you are kidding right you are hanging your teams accomplishments on usasportsrankings and travelballselect. usasportsrankings is trying to do something right but their rating system will always be biased and travelballselect is *** no face behind the name no phone number behind the name and no show up to any tournaments including the ones in their backyard ... chicago. yes go roadrunners but for crying out loud get real about ***. geez.

Playdog,

What did your team do this year?

The Roadrunnes went 48-9 this year scoring 492 runs (8.63 runs per game)while giving up 175 (3.07 runs per game). Our pitcher threw 15 shutouts and I believe 4 no hitters. We went 10-3 in the 16u events we played this year. Won 4 tournaments, runner up in two others and finished 5th at Junior Olympics. So I beleive our accomplishments speak for themselves.

You may not care for the ranking services but we are proud of what our TEAM did this year. And proud that USASportsrankings and Travelballselect chose the Roadrunners over all of the other 15u teams this year.

There was never a statement about us needing to be "annointed" or that we deserved it. It was just a statement that we were recognized as champions by the two sites.

I am not sure how it is done in Illinois but it is time for teams to be selected for next year. So any positive publicity helps out a team trying land some more talent. When you live in Atlanta and you have to compete with EC for the top players in the region, every little bit helps. That is why I posted on the Georgia page not the national page or the Illinois page for that matter.

You should have your tryouts before ECB. Then you can possibly draw some good players away from ECB. It's just a matter of time before people realize that ECB is no longer the best place to be. Just check tournament sites for scores and winners. Everyone thought there was going to be so many players from ECB drafted this year. Surprised weren't they. Don't believe the hype about ECB. It's not what it used to be.

You mean ECB isn't the navel of the universe? Shocking!!

Congrats, Roadrunners! Alpharetta and Gwinnett have some great teams. They just don't have a hype machine like ECB. (I agree no-e2)

(Why is a guy from IL on the GA forum? What useful info could be gained that might benefit him or his kid up in the frozen north?)

The Roadrunners deserve to be honored. However, I don't understand the negative statements about East Cobb.

We are talking about one of (if not the very best) programs in the history of amateur baseball. They definitely don't need a "hype" machine and neither do the Roadrunners.

Regarding last years draft... East Cobb has had the following players in their program... Cody Johnson (1st round), Brent Brewer (2nd round), Torre Langley (3rd round) among others. Demperio would have gone early too if signable (he was offered 2nd round money) And that is just off the top of my head. It's that way every year!

It's great to see the Roadrunners making national news, but lets don't disregard East Cobb's program. It's legendary!

I had a long response to you PG staff. But I deleted it because, it doesn't matter. If you love ECB, you'll love it no matter what anyone says. Just remember that you are not there all the time like the parents are. If you don't love it well........ My advice to parents is explore your options and check out your coach before you commit the money that you will be asked to commit.

no-e2,

I love baseball played at its highest level. No matter which teams are on the field.

So I have respect for most all the top programs. That means I have a great respect for both the East Cobb program and also the Roadrunner program!

In other words... I don't have to live in any certain place to appreciate top level talent, no matter what anyone says!

I believe that to fully understand and have any strong opinion on east cobb and roadrunners you have to had experienced it. There is a lot that goes on during tryouts, during the season, after the season...it all part of the experience.

PG Staff, lets just say that Will Rogers never met the men that run East Cobb baseball.

That's about the best way to put that 33's. I bear no ill will against PG Staff. The difference is they come into town every so often for a showcase or tournament. Everyone is friendly and bends over backward for them. Then they leave. Everyone else is still here and dealing with the coaching Diva's, ego's and split personalities. My only point is ECB is not the only game in town.

Quillgirl

Some of us up here in the "frozen North" enjoy reading all the forums. Never know where one may discover some useful information.

In fact, I'll be watching your forum more closely now that my nephew, from the frozen North, has moved into his dorm in Athens and is a freshman 3rd baseman for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Very sincerely

Good for your nephew, Central! (Sincerely) My nephew is there too, but not a ball player--a musician.

Re ECB "hype": The hype is that all the ECB teams are equally competitive when there is only 1, sometimes 2 teams in each age group that I'd call highly competitive. Many parents are very disappointed when their kid ends up on one of the "other" ECB teams. Very expensive and not worth the rah-rah.

I'm not sure I understand your post dog. Good ballplayers come from all over the country. Georgia and especially ECB, don't have a lock on talent.

In case any of you southern folks havent noticed .....there is plenty of outstanding talent here in the chicago area and in illinois. We might not have your weather year round , but we have the players.

No doubt the roadrunners have had an excellent team last couple of years, but who cares about the rankings on usasportsrankings and the other site . Means absolutely nothing other than a bunch of needless hype .

Just a reminder of my previous statement from earlier in this strand. The EC tryouts are this weekend. While we are still looking to fill a few spots on our roster. It was just to let people know that there are other very good teams and places to play in Atlanta and the Southeast other than East Cobb.
