Welcome, and thank you to Krakatoa for suggesting the new Golden Threads forum!

As noted on the first page of this new forum, the purpose is to provide a collecting place for some of the most popular or most helpful threads on the High School Baseball Web. We have started by moving just a few good threads to this forum, with a special focus on those which might help visitors and new members start to understand the college recruiting process.

Please feel free to nominate other threads for relocation to this forum. You may nominate a thread by posting in THIS thread, or by contacting a Moderator listed for this forum. Please don't feel insulted if your nomination is not immediately chosen for inclusion. We will select just a few of those nominated, trying to keep a good balance of information here. While a few controversial topics may be included, we expect to include mostly positive threads.

Thanks again to Krakatoa for suggesting this new forum and for assisting with moderating!

Julie

A very good idea...this should prove to be helpful and popular with both existing HSBBW websters and those websters new to the site.

I have been telling numerous baseball people about the site and it's good to know that there is now a topic, Golden Threads, that should immediately pique their interset and keep them searching the site for more.

Everyone that I have talked with concerning this site has admitted that it would be helpful in their situation...and now that gold is easier to find they most likely will keep panning and sluicing for more.

This should be useful to the existing websters also since these nuggets are the best of the best as determined by experienced websters and moderators...a treasure trove !

Way to go Krakatoa...That's some forward thinking on your part...of course you are some portion of a day ahead of most of us...I think.

Bring 'em on, 'red!! However, as a mere minion of the iconic Fungo and MN-Mom, I will seek their opinions before agreeing to anything! Since those two have actually gotten their kids past high school to the next level (and beyond), and my kid's only an '08 and may never go further than the end of the driveway, their judgment as to which threads will really help new members, guests, and old timers alike help their boys is much keener than mine.

I'm honored to help out as needed, however, and hope this Golden Threads will help people cut right to the chase on 'next level' assistance.
We will always have our eyes open for those threads that really offer great info for rising ballplayers.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Well.....actually Krakatoa.....I've nothing to recommend right now.....do need to respond to your post however....and say.....with the support you give your son....he'll be going beyond that driveway.....not a doubt in my mind....you need to keep the driveway clear....because he'll play college ball.....and that's my only recommendation for now...... Smile

Our 'driveway' is essentially located at 40,000 feet and makes a nice arc between Seoul and Los Angeles. We always use the neighbor's driveway on the return trip, however, because it goes through Honolulu rotlaugh

So lemme see if I've got this straight...when you fly from Seoul to LA it's tomorrow or the next day...and when you're flying back it is yesterday or the day after...right?

How does Honolulu figure in...daywise? Is Honolulu on the leeward or windward side?...or does it matter? dialog

GW, it all ceases to matter when one is sitting in a beach cabana, watching with great expectation as the cold selection one has made dances its way across the star-studded Hawaiian sky, from your waitress' hand into your hand..........

Based on justbb's comments alone, infielddad's thread entitled "Are parents too involved?" ought to be moved into the Golden Threads forum. I have enjoyed reading everyone's reply in there thus far Smile

Just curious, is there a prohibition from moving deserving threads into the Golden Threads forum noidea There have been about a 1/2 dozen threads or so nominated since its inception yet none have been moved in there even though there were indications they would be moved.

I don't think we'll harm this forum in any way by moving some more deserving threads in here. Here is a list of all the threads that have been nominated for the Golden Threads Forum thus far. Thanks Smile

Are parents too involved?

Positive Influences (The Dash)

Drinking on Official Visits

Is it time to move on?

Yearly Thoughts.........

Comparison Between Minor Leagues and Major D1

Mental Illness

CD,

Thank you for the reminder, and especially, thanks for making this easy to do by giving me all the links! I have moved all the above threads you highlighted except for "Are parents too involved?", still very active in the General forum. Someone please remind me to move that one after a while?

This forum is a great place to post requests or reminders like ClevelandDad just did above. I can't promise that all requested "Golden Threads" will be moved here, but I will at least take a look, and maybe ask some other members for their opinions if I'm not sure. I can't always keep up with all the administrative things I would like to do, and definitely can't keep up with reading all the threads to watch for "Golden" requests within those threads. And sometimes I don't even remember to go back to a thread I promised to move "in a few days"! Wink So keep those reminders coming!

Julie

I took a part time job this summer at the Field Museum here in Chicago. As you may know, the spectacular King Tutankhamun traveling exhibit is here until January of next year.

My job is a ticket taker at the main entrance. They gave me the most bedazzling and jewel studded golden outfit to wear.

Talk about your golden threads mom...c'mon by and have a look yourself...I think you'll find they are worthy of induction into the Golden Threads forum. egypt
