To our resident barristers:

Take a look at this! One of our regular websters sent me an email pointing this out to me. Seems this person / group is using about 1/2 of the information on the High School Baseball Web for their own use.

In the printed material, as provided by this Rio group is the "Timeline," articles, etc. straight from the HSBBWeb is being utilized. I have never spoken with, exchanged correspondence or talked to this person, in my life! Needless to say I am just a little upset right now.

http://www.rijoathleticsbaseball.com/money.htm

http://www.rijoathleticsbaseball.com/index.htm

I am aware that the internet is a wide open resource and I know of instances where the information from the site being used on other sites. More often than not the person has asked permission to use an article or item. This group's use is pure plagiarizism.

Any advice on how to handle this would be appreciated. I have held off sending this person/group an email until I calm down a bit.

Bob,

Key word is "copyright".

Call a local lawyer that deals with such things. Don't call a local lawyer that deals with divorce or dui's.

An attorney that handles Copyright Law.

Bob, you've got a lot of lawyers on the site including me. Don't know if Beenthere is one or not. The kind of lawyer who specializes in copyright, trademark, and patent law is now an "Intellectual Property" attorney (my brother is one in California). However, most good civil firms with a strong business practice will have enough expertise to help you with this or direct you to the right attorney. It is not unusual to run into these questions in any business. Hope that helps.

I, too, am an attorney and know that internet law is now a very specific segment of intellectual property law. I would make sure that any law firm that you use, even if it specializes in intellectual property, has taken on internet law cases. The Benjamin Cardozo Law School in Manhattan has one of the most developed departments in this area. If you would like the names of some professors to call for references to get you to a specialized law firm, I'd be happy to pass them on to you.

So Andy .... What you are saying is that the article on the High School Baseball Web, by Junior Weaver (scout) is really your article?

For the record I contacted Mr. Weaver and received permission to use the article!

He would be interested to know that you are claiming his original interview as yours!

Get a life.

Bob,

Boy, we could start a law firm with the folks on here. I too am an attorney, when I can't find a ball game to watch, and you've been given good advice-intellectual property is a very specialized area. Most lawyers that do that do nothing else. I'm just a little old country lawyer. I can tell you that the threat of being drug into intellectual property litigation will make the hair stand up on an businessman that knows what he's doing.

As much as Bob has done for HS baseball over the years, I can't sit here and remain silent. Andy, how can you of all people, post something like that? Unbelievable! Go look at yourself in the mirror!

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I am having a hard time deciding what to write, or even what I CAN write. I understand Bob being so upset. I have a webpage for our HS TC Roberson Click on recruiting info. The problem there is we DO have a coach that has a clue, so unless you are a rival team or just stumble onto the site, it doesn't help alot of fokes.

Because of HSBASEBALLWEB.COM I have learned so much for FREE.

My hubby was/is league president/WNC fall baseball pres for the past 13 years.

People ask him questions, he sends them to me, I send them HERE!

Andy, you may sit with some coaches, carry your clipboard, write down stats, etc. Do you not understand THEY LAUGH AT YOU!!???????

I love this game, and can understand your passion, but please, Bob said it best "Get a life"

Bob,
I have direct info for you regarding this group, as well as a little experience in the area in that my own website had been plagerized. After consulting with an attorney, it was decided the best route was to send them a letter threatening action and boy, was the info removed from their site QUICK!!!!
But I'm going to send you a PM so you have a little background.
