Anyone know the rules of Eligibility for the CIS, particularly the OUA.

The reason I ask is I'm wondering how a former MiLB Pitcher is able to Pitch for a OUA team.

Clearly they don't have as strict eligibilty rules as the NCAA, but I'd still like to know about it.

Are you referring to the Ottawa GeeGees and Mike Kusiewicz? I thought that was strange.

According to the CIBA website here is their policy; So as long as his status was changed he's ok to play.

ELIGIBILITY
Player Eligibility
Individuals may only play for a school at which they attend as a full time student and must qualify under Rule 1.1
Any team using an ineligible player shall forfeit all games played by that player.
Any team using an ineligible player at a National Championship, shall be suspended from participation in at least the following National Championship.
Only amateur players are eligible.
Former professional players may play once they are reinstated to amateur status under the rules of Baseball Canada.
There is no limit on the number of years a player may play.
On appeal, the President or his designate may allow exceptions to this rule on compassionate grounds.

Doc there are rules but mostly academic eligibility. You have to be a full time student with passing grades in your 4-5 subjects. there is no age stipulation that I am aware of and yes a former pro can play.
I tried to find out what reistated a pro to amateur statys but have not heard back.

I heard back from Baseball Canada about that rule this is what they told me:

After your pro career, you can be re-instated as an amateur by filling out a form and showing proof or release by pro teams.

Some provinces/leagues are using the rule for their league as well. In CIS/CIBA/OUA, I believe this rule applies also meaning that all players (if they played pro before) must have been reinstated by us.

Hey Doc that sounds simple enough.

Brock lost the OUA Championship on Sunday. Western and Brock were tied one game apiece. They were down 1 run in the top of the ninth.

"With the bases loaded in the top of the ninth and one out, Mustangs pitcher J**** N**** got the Badgers D** B**** to ground into a double play as the Mustangs captured their third straight OUA Championship."

I have seen them do this several times during the season. You have to play fot the tie and they swing away. They did the same thing in a crucial game and it almost cost them the chance to go to the semis.

I was supposed to go to both the games yesterday, but something came up.

I was there both years prior to watch the 'Stangs win it, Lumley sure turned that program around with the guys he brought in.
