I was wondering if somebody might know how American Universities interpret grades from canadian high school students in evaluating scholership potential.

My nephew currently takes mostly academic courses with only average marks. Next year will be his senior year. Would it be wiser for him to take more applied (general) courses to boost his marks?

I have heard that American Universities do not discriminate between academic and applied grades. Is this true?

No there will not be a discrimination on grades however he needs to go through the NCAA Clearing house, info at www.ncaa.org which will give you more info about core high school course requirements and he also needs to take either the SAT or ACT test.
