Many folks know that I've always been fond of my neighbors to the south. We've been to the E TN area probably close to two dozen times over the years for baseball.

However, this weekend we visited the area for the first time for a volleyball tournament. Our entire team got stuck in a traffic jam on an interstate due to a large wreck. The assistance coach of the hosting team came and met us at another exit and took us to the school via back roads. The coach of the team that we ended up loosing to in the championship game came over to us parents after pool play asking if there was anything we needed. The kids were polite and well mannered on each and every team. The town of Johnson City was clean and well kept.

Everyone there treated us with grace and hospitality making the weekend very special.

Oh, the hosting school was Science Hill and the team we lost too with a sweetheart of a coach was Dobs Bennet (?sp).

So, just a shout out to that area that does TN very proud! Smile

Glad you enjoyed your trip. A couple of things maybe you didn't know. Science Hill HS is the HS Steve Spurrier attended. The Kingsport school is Dobyns-Bennett, which has produced a lot of good players in many sports, both boys and girls. You mentioned other trips, was that for baseball tourneys in the Jefferson City area?

I did see that. They actually have up some pictures and his history as far as awards. I meant to ask our other parents if they noticed, but forgot. His area was kinda off to a corner of the lobby, but I had taken time to puruse the various awards. It's a very nice school.... wish the gym was air conditioned though! Smile

We traveled many times to the Morristown area for baseball to that large complex at the Dandridge exit. That entire area is so beautiful and as I said, folks don't get nicer than the ones we met. We passed some BEAUTIFUL homes that were I believe lakeside in trying to get to Science Hill on the "back roads". A few of us parents are ready to move down there!

Thanks for clarifying the name of Dobyns-Bennett! Very nice kids and coach. EVERYONE on the trip was super!

We have always had a wonderful time with great people in Western Tenn as well. We play twice a year in and around the Memphis area. Last time was in Jackson. What a great town and wonderful new ballfields. Next week is a little south at Southaven. Fun times and Oh the sweet tea!!!!!

Well, of course! The land of some good baseball, the Fungo family and Elvis! Smile Actually, W TN is an area that I've never visited for baseball or anything else. Gonna have to change that one of these days. Smile
