I am planning a trip to Knoxville for a football game, and was wanting to see some baseball while there. Does anyone know what UT's fall schedule (practice or games) looks like? Open to the public? I'd love to see what a college practice looks like.

You can try and contact the baseball office or just keep an eye on www.utsports.com.
I think they usually start practice in late September or early October, and have their intrasquad scrimmages at the end of the month.

Unfortunately there aren't many home football dates after September. I don't know whether they will have started practice by the Marshall game (9/23) or not. Alabama (10/21) is the only home game in October. There's a possibility they may still be practicing prior to the LSU game 11/4.

I don't know for sure, but I'm not aware that their practices are closed.

Bizazz,
Have you noticed the daily coverage of the Vols football practice on TV? It's seems to always be at Lindsey Nelson. What ever happened to the fancy new field outside the practice facility? peepwall

I guess those 300 lb lineman are working on their aeration project for fall baseball.

HV, I've wondered that very thing. That fancy new practice field (Thank you Haslams) is still there, overlooking Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Maybe it's just football's way of saying "We're paying your way - so deal with it."

I've been keeping an eye on utsports.com, but there hasn't been any fall news to date. Right now, the game we're looking at is Marshall. May rethink that if the baseball guys haven't been back on the field yet. I, too, noticed that football seems to be spending a lot of time on the baseball field. Where do the baseball players do their off season long toss?

You might also try to call the baseball office. You likely won't reach a coach, but the baseball secretary should be able to give you some info.

The football team is not on the field all day, and I don't know how much they use Lindsey Nelson after the season starts.

From what I am reading, it seems that the football teams uses the baseball stadium for practice? I'm not familiar with Tennessee so this seems weird to me.

The baseball stadium is located directly across the street from the outdoor football practice field.

Apparently they rotate between these fields during pre-season practice in order to mitigate wear and tear.
