Son got the call today that he is moving up to AA Tennessee Smokies in Knoxville to fill one of the vacancies resulting from Dbacks' trade of 2 AA starting pitchers. If anybody is near his home field or travel field and goes to a game ... please tell him his mom will miss him (we have gotten used to seeing him every 5th day while he was out here) and knows he deserves the promo (she says boldly).

clapping

FBM - Do you have any idea of rotation yet? Knoxville isn't a bad drive for us from Lexington. Would love to get down there and see him! As a matter of fact, will be coming back through that area on the 13th (they play in Chattanooga) from Atlanta. Let us know!

Congrats on the move!!! clap

lafmom ...

He will start either tomorrow or Thursday ... we are hoping for Thurs since tomorrow is a day game on the road and after traveling all day today he probably could use the rest. Actually just talked with him while I was typing this and he just got into Knoxville and is heading out to Kodak after a quick stop at WalMart to pick up a duffle bag for road trips. As soon as he tells us when he is throwing, I will let you know.

Thanks for asking.

That brings up a question. Do most of the players live in Sevier Co. near the ballpark, or in Knoxville?

Sevier sounds famliar but I am not totally sure. I do think it is closer to the field than to Knoxville. They used to have some arrangement with an apartment complex that helped the players with the shorter term agreements but I think that fell through. Son is going to room with a former Lancaster teammate who is also a So Cal boy. I can say that he sounded much more relaxed when he got there today than he has sounded when he has arrived at other assignments ... probably because he knows a lot of the guys on the team.

He is starting Wed 8/9 (apparently not a day game) in Chattanooga. That would put his next start at home on Tues the 15th (they have a day off on the 14th unless there is a make up game somewhere ...)

He will be rooming with a former Lancaster teammate so things look a lot better than they normally do for housing with a mid-season transfer ... he has been known to live in our travel trailer at times. And he gets a pay raise so he will be making the big bucks now haha

Every little bit helps! Big Grin

If there are any changes where he might be on for Sunday, please let me know! Hopefully this move up will bring AJ great things. If you've never been to TN, East TN in particular, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Great folks too! Best wishes for great success and keep us posted!
