Has anyone had any dealings with the Doyle Baseball Academy? Have you been to one of their showcases and do you know how college coaches feel about their reports?

Took my son ('05 Grad now pitching at Christian Brothers Univ. in Memphis) to a Doyles' Prospects 1-Day Evaluation Camp in IL back in 2004. For the money we were NOT impressed. My son is primarily a RHP, and listed OF as a second position. Pitching evaluation was last at the camp. Problem was they had kids who listed pitching as their primary position, perform at their secondary position first. They put my son in CF first and had them field about 8 flies/line drives and throw ALL THE WAY HOME without a cut-off! This was all done with less than 5 minutes to stretch out and loosen up! It was a cool spring day too. Needless to say many of these boys complained later when doing their Pitching evaluation that their arms were sore. My son was one of them. In fact, two young men made a couple throws and shut it down.

We found over my son's Jr. and Sr. years that attending some good college pitching camps/clinics, especially at schools your son may be interested in attending, gave him better "looks" and bang for the bucks. It also helped my son realize his best chance to PLAY in college was to pursue D-II, NAIA, JuCo and D-IIIs. D-I always sounds great, but for MANY they find themselves now a "small fish in the big pond," and find themselves on the bench more than they would like, becoming disillusioned and frustrated, and can end up losing interest in the game. Find the right school, both academically and athletically for your son, and be realistic about his skills.

Again, for Doyles...all I can say we were NOT impressed on how it was run, AND the turnout by college coaches was pretty sad. Believe there were only about 8 schools there; most local and sub-DI.
