ETSU has a an All-American catcher in Caleb Moore, so don't look for Nick to be at that position. Additionally the Bucs have two fine young catchers.
Nick "took one for the team" at UT when it came to catching.
Look for Nick in the middle of the infield at ETSU next season. (my opinion - based on no inside knowledge)
Why leave the SEC for the SoCon? Maybe sometimes it's not where you are going to but where you have come from (or left)?
The move to ETSU may have resurrected Nick's professional opportunities. Not many pro scouts that are going to consider a 5'-8" tall catching prospect, but at the middle infield position .....

I appreciate the information about Crowe. Sounds like their middle infield is going to be strong and along with an All American catcher they ought to be competitive. Do they have any pitching? Any big prospects? The paper makes Coach Skole sound like a pretty tough task master as a coach. Good luck to Crowe and his team.
Thanks for the info. Looks like he blistered this summer league. Congrats. What about rest of staff? Can you win the conference or make a regional with one pitcher? How was their signing class?
nick crowe....was he even really a catcher.....why did he catch.......will they be better at that position with edmundson behind the dish??? or crowe.....

My guess would be that: 1) The UT coaches wanted Nick in the everyday line-up, especially his bat
2) UT had a hole at the catching position, 2nd, 3rd and Short looked to be in good shape. There was a new player coming in to play 1st base (that it was hoped would bring much needed power). Edmundson was a transfer from Memphis and was not in the starting line-up there.
Edmundson is having a very good summer wood bat season. Keep in mind that he hit .263 in 38 plate appearances at Memphis and .264 in 87 plate appearances for UT last season.
UT will also have incoming freshman catcher Jonathan Arencibia.
Was Nick really a catcher? My opinion ..... No! As I have said before, Nick Crowe "took one for the team" not just last season at catcher but before that at 1st base.
