Pure conjecture on my part. I believe if he was caught with some middling NCAA rules violation, the school would state as much. Given the schools silence for his summary dismissal, indicated by several sources, leads me to suppose his transgretion far outweighs anything routinely firable and explained by the institution.
Something so bad the school is too embarrassed to even hint to the nature of it.
Simply put, he was canned, they ain't talking and Mazey twists in a gale of speculation. Hence, the title of this thread.
I am guessing it's so bad and outside NCAA jurisdiction, that ECU will never detail the offense.
No one outside the scene will know until a lawsuit or criminal charges are filed or someone talks to the press.
I could be very wrong but it smells pretty bad to me.
It's very telling that the soul of the program Coach LeClair blessed the move. I guess that's all we need to know.

Conjecture has been known to make a fool of people especially when it comes to other peoples character
Irregardless of Coach LeClair, who I have the greatest regard for, and his blessing ,I would like to see facts before I crucify any man or woman. Past sins do not necessarily have any play here

Well stated TR. It's too bad so many people are willing to speculate on the "possible" transgressions of another without any evidence. Too many people are too busy tending to other people's houses. With that said, seems like ECU owes everyone a more thorough explanation.

I doubt he was caught leaving the athletic department with an extra ink pen sticking out of his shirt pocket. ECU can end the speculation with one press release. They choose not to, leaving everyone to assume the worst. It's not my doing.
Bottom line is he let his team down. I'd be very disappointed if I was connected. College baseball ain't about coaches anyway. It doesn't really matter why.

I am not trying to judge nor crucify anyone, just wondered what happened since nothing is being given out on why he has been suspended. I am sure that someone knows what happened and you don't have to post it, just email me. We all have made mistakes in our lives and I'm sure if we could go back and change them we would.

It's unfortunate that these things happen, but this is highly likely a home situation. Randy and Michelle were having problems that led to issues that Coach Holland didn't feel were appropriate to bring out. He was married to a person that was not supportive and that caused peoblems. He's a good coach that comes across like most coaches do with a shortness of personality. He is a good man and a great coach. I hope he's on a staff soon. He's worth it!!!!!!!
Not sure if u are speaking from fact or not but IMO a message board is not the place to discuss a matter as personal as coaches family and or relationships. I'm sure there will be a number of people who disagree with me.
Unless the subject of the dismissal(i.e. NCAA infraction or University rules) is something of public record to spread gossip or partial truths out here on the web does a disservice to all involved. Even if you are 100% accurate it seems like something that should be kept private. The coach was suspended, a new coach is in place lets look ahead to the Spring and a succesfull 2006.

Dad04.....You should be ashamed of yourself!! And why is it that people always think it's enfidelity.
1st of all, Randy Mazey is a tremendous coach. 2nd, he could care less of what anyone's opinion of how he coaches is. He is to the point and always has been. He is a man of few words but of words that allow you to know where he stands and also where he is coming from. I'll let him HOLD the rope anytime I'm hanging on the side of a building 20 flights up!!! ANYTIME
Now, since most of you(especially you Dad04) think Mazey did something so bad!! Dad04, bet your the one in the stands always yelling about Coach Chelfs offensive moves!!!!! Mazey didn't break any rules, nor was he out hunting (Those who shout the loudest always have a few skeletons in the closet), You know what he did.....He sent a letter to the parents of the players on his team and told them he didn't feel as though they were supporting the program the way they should be. One Parent went to the AD. The same AD that was now firing the third head coach let go by the university since Holland became athletics director last October.
There's your bottom line. Feel any better??

Well is did. That and a personality conflict. Holland didn't hire Mazey. He was just looking for a reason. Thats why he is Suspended and not Fired as of yet!

You list your location as Texas --how are you in on all this "private" info-call me cynical fine but I find it curious that you have this info which even the newspapers have not mentioned in their stories

Why should I be ashamed? My name is not Mazey or Holland.
I would be ashamed if I spelled like you though.

Coach Chelfs
Vance, if you are going to insult him at least spell the mans name correctly, S-Z-E-C-F. He recruited my kid, coached 3rd and and the hitters on a team that went 48-19 last year. Coach Szefc is extremely well respected nationwide as a coach and recruiter.
I haven't gotten any letters from him though.
BTW, Godwin was named the permanent head coach last week at ECU.
Have a nice day.

Didn't put him down, But I've heard lots of yelling at him from the stands. Thought one might be you. You shouldn't open closet doors when they don't need openning!!!
