In all fairness to SEC coaches you should give Corbin a nickname of equal elequence to that of the coach of Tennessee. I actually lost sleep over this and I am hoping a man of your abilities could come up with something. I suggest 2-4 nicknames and maybe have a vote.

The nickname should match the personality and I don't know Coach Corbin, but do admire his progress at Vanderbilt.

To be honest, I wish the "Ray-Bans" nickname had not stuck so well. It's like one of those heat-of-the-moment reactions to our recent years in recruiting.

I perfer the more lighthearted ones like "Lightfooted Mules" for MTSU. Those offer no disrespect and just good fun.

Ray-Bans West (not meant to be an insult, just that Ray-Bans was in the state first)

'Dore Man

Intramural Guy (he's undoubtedly the finest intramural baseball coach in the land)

Okay guys, I know someone can come up with something better than this noidea.

All I could think of because I had breakfast with him once, he ordered a chocklate chip bagel and some strange coffee. (Mocca Latte?)

You may want to use the nickname "WINNER". How many people could turn around a program like Vanderbilt is such a short period of time?

I'm as impressed as anyone with what Coach Corbin is doing at Vandy. But the 2003 record was 27-28 overall (14-16) in the SEC. Yeah, I know they swept the Vols (that still hurts). Yeah, I think they are on the upswing, as evidenced by their recruiting.

The name WINNER may apply this year, but the name may still be a year away. Let's see how the 2004 season plays out.

Bizazz,

Intramural guy? Please. You disappoint me. Frown
(Pretty sure you're just kidding)

No suggestions for nicknames from me. But I do have a strong feeling that the "WINNER" label will be applicable in 2004!

VaDad25, the intramural comment wasn't totally meant to slight. But isn't it true that Vandy pulled their athletic program into the University (i.e. intramurals)?

Having said that, the Dores kicked UT's butt last year on the field, this year in recruiting.

Maybe Gee knew what he was doing after all.

Bizazz,

Yes, athletics was put under the control of the university instead of a separate athletic department. No, I can't explain totally how it is all going to work. But you know that doesn't automatically make all the NCAA sanctioned sports at Vandy "intramurals". If so, that intramural basketball team sure is doing a number on their more qualified opponents! laugh No offense taken, I know where you are coming from. Smile

HV,

You never cease to amaze me! That's great! clap

AdDad25,

You're exactly right about the 'Dore's basketball team. I started to mention it in the post, above.

If the Vols can escape Gainesville on Saturday without too much damage to their self esteem, next Wednesday's roundball contest could be a good one.

Sorry about my digression into roundball.

Can't wait until 2/16.
