Definitely avoid NW and SW Memphis. Also avoid the Memphis airport area. Stay on East side of Memphis (Poplar Ave area is nice & safe) Germantown, Collierville, or Olive Branch. If you do venture downtown, Blues City Cafe on Beale Street has (in my opinion) the best ribs in the State of Tennessee. The Original Corky's on Poplar Ave. is a close 2nd. Many however would argue the best ribs are at the Rendezvous. If you prefer 'em dry rubbed, then Rendezvous is the place.
