Im not complaining because the call went our way but:

HS Rules: Man on 3rd, fly to right caught, R3 tags and goes home.. Throw from right is ontime but a bit off - catcher catches ball a stride up the 3rd baseline and about 2 feet behind the baseliine. If the throw was on target it would have been very close. R3 runs through home with no slide. Ump calls R3 out because he didnt slide on a "play at the plate". Thoughts???

To our military men, women and families - You are all awesome - that flag is yours and I thank you for the opportunity for giving me the honor of removing my cap prior to every baseball game I see.

If this is NFHS rules, then its a blown call....there is no must slide rule at home.....if you do slide it must be a legal slide..., but this sounds like a bad call and a serious lack of NFHS knowledge by this umpire....

Bad call -- he should be safe. The same thing happened to me, except not only did I get called out but I got tossed and suspended for 2 games. I was talking with the league president a few weeks later and he was mad that the ump threw me out in the first place, and even more mad that I got suspended. He went and talked to the ump and told him about there being no must slide rule, but by then I had already missed 3 games.
