Runner at 1st; no outs. Runner is off on the pitch, line out to 3rd; the 3rd baseman has an easy double play but launches the throw out of play. Ump puts runner on 2nd. I thought he gets 3rd. (i was just the field supervisor and after the inning I told the ump to look it up; I wasn't 100% sure)

you guys are good at giving a citation on this; so is the runner at 2nd or 3rd when we resume play?

The award is two bases from legally held base at the time of pitch. However, R1 does need to tag up.
