R1 dives into 3rd base and his helmet pops off, goes under him and then surfaces next to him as the tag is made. The tag is made into the helmet which is lying on the ground against R1s side. Out or safe?

Okay made you look. No, tagging a helmet not in it's proper place would not equal an out in my book. No more than say a slide at HP with a bat in between the runner the glove.
