We are looking for some advice from anyone that can help with a recruiting/scouting question for our soon to be 17 year old son.

Next summer our son will have completed his junior year in High School, and we are trying to decide whether to have him play for a 17U or an 18U team.

He has always played up, and has offers to play for 18U teams again. Our question is "Do the 17U teams get scouted heavier by colleges and or pro scouts?"

It would seem plausible that the 17U would get more attention as it is before their senior year in HS. Any input/advice would be helpful and appreciated.

Respect the game.............and yourself.

Instead of focusing on the team's age, focus on the events the teams schedule.

You can sign up for a 17u team that goes to both 17u and 18u events.

If your son is in high demand, you may even want to consider playing for different teams at different times while looking at individual-oriented events like Tournament of Stars, East Coast Pro, Area Code games, etc. If you do those types of events, it's hard to play all summer for a summer-long team anyway.

He should play with a team that has the highest exposure to his college/draft class. If you are looking for a place to play college, it does not do much good to play with a group that plays a bunch of tournaments that the college coaches are not going to be at.

Good luck!
