The proper replies should be honest answers. "I don't know or I am not sure" are also honest answers. Most first contact calls are very one-sided, with the coaches calling to give a short "spiel" about their program and school. It never hurts to have a list of questions ready. I feel that it is important for the player to ask the questions, not the parent, at least at first. I always hear one common thread from college coaches, "we don't recruit players that don't want to be here." Most coaches feel that it is a waste of time and effort and ultimately a bad fit if the "talk a player into liking their program."
