My son is going to attend a D11 school. The probgram is in its second year after not having baseball for eight years. If all does not work out, are there restrictions on transfering? He would probably go to another D11 school. Would he have to sit out a semester?

There is no simple "one stop" answer to your question.

In most cases an NCAA spring sport athlete can transfer one (1) time without penalty. However the athlete first must gain a full release from his previous program. No release -- the athlete will be ineligible for his sport for one (1) year (not a semester)

Some conferences have instituted their own rule whereby a student-athlete cannot transfer to another conference school without being required to sit out one year.

It troubles me when people talk about transfering before they even get there!!!

If you have concerns do attend that school !!!
