I was just wondering exactly what happens on the day of signing. Does player sign and mail? Do you go to the campus to sign? I figured this info was already out here somewhere, tried to do a search on NLI but hit a million pages! If anyone has a link where I can read more about this, I appreciate it.

Your NLI will usually get to you a few days before the signing date. This is so you have time to review, ask any questions etc. On the signing date, your son will sign and a parent or guardian will witness and sign at 7:00 or 8:00am (I forgot which), then you will usually fax a copy back to the coach and over night the originals. It is not until the coach has the faxed copy that the SID can announce the signing.

Good Luck!!!!

Also keep in mind that early signing date is not just one day--it is over a short period of time

TR is correct you have a few days to sign, but it cannot be done on any other days other than what is designated (don't know dates this year). Then you will be asked to fax it back (as Coach Merc has indicated) for announcements.

I think son signed the second day because he was awaiting his friends to get their NLI so they could all sign it together at school.

Thank you everyone. Sometimes I see pictures in our local paper of parents, player and coach announcing the signing. Maybe this is why they sign together at school? I've got a feeling I'll be missing some work that morning!

You got it! Lots of the HS coaches (and principals) like to be in on the signing. Some have parties, but our boys weren't into that.
