Not so many years ago, the thought was if a lefty could walk and chew gum,and throw the ball over the plate, they were ticketed for the majors. Supposedly D-III colleges rarely had lefty pitchers.

I now see lots more lefty pitchers and my sons saw lefties all year long at the D III level this past season.

Lefties still don't need to throw as hard as righties to attract interest, but there seem to be a lot more of them than just a few years ago.

You had best be pro-active-make a list of target schools and contact them. Just being left-handed and pitching isn't enough.

Go Hokies! Go Rams! Go Captains!

A couple of good West Coast programs to contact are the University of Redlands and Chapman College.

Both are great academic schools and very competitive baseball programs with solid coaches.

CSU-Pueblo only has one Lefty on there team and he is a 2 position player. Southpaws seem to be hard to find in Colorado.

And those same lefties laugh as they have the limo
driver pull up and park at the bank!
