I don't think the NCAA has any input.

Find out which is required by the admissions department of the school which your son or daughter will like to attend.

Take both, early and often, no penaties; and, at many schools they offer more academic money for higher scores.

The majority of schools now accept either. My son did considerably better on the ACT-in fact most of his friends that took it did. Unfortunately, many students do not know that they can benefit from taking the ACT as well as the SAT. Also, check with the schools that your son will be applying to see if he needs the ACT with writing section or not.

Son took both SAT & ACT. It was interesting as his results were better in Math on one test while the other had a better Verbal score. All schools we talked with took either SAT or ACT for entrance qualifications. His school also used the scores from either test to determine freshman placement in English & Math, so he was able to use the best of both. Smile

Ok. I'm not sure what you mean by "distinguish" but the Clearinghouse merely reports to various academic institutions the student athlete's academic standing. So regarding the ACT and SAT although I don't recall specifically, but I think it just shows the score to indicate it was taken. If you want, I could try to get on my daughter's and see what it says specifically. You should download or order the Guide For College Bound Student-Athletes. It's a great source of information.
