Does any one know of any camps or showcases for 2010 in the South or Southeast over Christmas break. I would like to attend one that has a good number of schools still recruiting 2010 class.I think if Coaches can see me in this setting I will be able to "showcase" myself better. Any thing would be great as long as it is not just one school, unless they have seen me. We just can't do too many of them with travel, money , only 2 weeks and so on. Thanks

D1 schools, if that is what you are looking for, cannot attend holiday camps or showcses off of their facilities during that time, but JUCO and D2 can.

I am not really understanding why you will not try to make yourself available to any of the Florida JUCOs, there you might have an opportunity to develop the velocity needed, to reach your goal and sdave your folks some money they may not have to spend. Some of these JUCOs have better programs than many D1 schools. This will take some pressure off of you, you can concentrate on your HS senior season, your grades.

Just a suggestion.

TPM, I have made myself available to Fl Juco's and have received great feedback and that is a big option. I most likely will go to one and develop like you said. But that won't stop me from trying to go D-1 or D-1 mid major because I want the whole college experience. Most JC's are commuter schools, at least in Fl.I am concentrating on my grades and have 3.45 gpa this semester. I just know in my heart I can play and really help at a bigger school. You have to dream and then you have to try to reach it! It just may take awhile.

I like your spunk and determination, the nice part about JUCO is that you don't have to settle, it gives you time to develop to reach your goal. There is nothing wrong with that.
Some of the FL JUCOs are close by to big universities, my son's BF attended one close to FSU and never missed out on any part of college life, later transfering there.
Hope that you are spending time working on conditioning and tossing in this off season, perhaps working with a pitching coach, that is much more productive at this time than posting here, JMO.

Elon University has one of the best showcase camps my son has attended but it is the weekend after Thanksgiving. Well attended by many coaches. This year's coaches include the following schools in addition to four MLB scouts:
UNC Asheville
USC Upstate
Barton College
Davidson College
ECU
Appalachian State
High Point
Tennessee Wesleyan
UNC
Emory Riddle
Greensboro College
Gardner Webb
Wake Forest
Richmond
Louisburg
St. Andrews

It really is worth atteding. My son got a lot of interest there.

Can D1 attend if they are paid for working the showcase?

If that is so, play9 might want to contact the camps here in FL to see who would be attending.

Lander University in SC is having a "camp" on 11/21 at a cost of $50. There are supposed to be several D2 programs in attendance.

Orlando Baseball Acadamey is also having a "workout" 12/17 with about 7 D2's in attendance. Also at a cost of $50.

Before you sign up for any camp, are these schools and a baseball program that interest you, or are you just looking for any place that may take you.

The whole point of the recruiting process is doing your homework, going to a place that is the right fit, that includes academics, social life, and baseball.

At a cost of $50 bucks and a 3 hour drive from Bradenton, OBA's event is hard to beat. Play9 should definately look each of these venues up to see who will be in attendence before he heads up the road though!

St. Petersburg College (JUCO) just posted a workout and Central Florida College in Ocala is having 2 events on 11/7 and 11/15.

Seminole College (JUCO) has one on the 21st.

Pudgemom, are these coaches confirmed to be there? Or is this a list of coaches they "invited"? We've been to camps with an impressive list of coaches invited, but in reality, very few on the list actually showed up. If these are confirmed to be there, this sounds like a great opportunity.

This is a list of coaches who are definitely attending...the list was provided to my son by one of their assistant coaches. My son has attended this camp for the past two years and it is extremely well attended by coaches and scouts and one of the best run showcases he has attended.

floridafan I looked up the colleges at OBA and they all seem to be private, real high tuition schools that are out of my family's reach in this economy, but thanks again and I'll keep looking!!

Thanks TPM I went to their camp last December and it was just UF coaches and players. It was a great camp and I performed real good, but I think Uf is on to 2011 now.

Play9 - Some of the colleges attending the camp at Elon have high price tags, but don't let that stop you from attending. Here are some annual costs of tuition, room and board (from the collegeboard.com website) for some of those colleges:

Elon $33,700
Richmond $48,500
Wake $49,000
UNC Chapel Hill $32,100 (out of state tuition)
Davidson $45,000

And thanks for posting. I will save this post for my son to attend the Elon camp in the future.
