Does getting a letter from a College coach asking you to go to one of there select showcase camps mean something or do they send those out to like millions of people?

Welcome to the board. You didn't say what year in school you are. (The rules for recruiting depend on your year in high school.) As far as a letter to a college camp, most of the time these are general invitations. Each College is different but usually these are not an indication of specific recruiting interest. If you are a junior or senior I would suggest contacting the coaches directly if you have an interest in this school.

I am an 05...It was just saying how i was prospect to them and how they invitred me to their camp and other stuff..I was quite happy when i got it cause it seemed cool

It is cool and you should be proud, as many more players out there did not receive an invitation. Just keep it in perspective. The recruiting process can be cruel, so you don't want to read into letters any more than what they are to avoid disappointment. Direct conversation with coaches is the way to go to find out where you truly stand as a prospect. As a junior, you should be actively contacted colleges that you are interested in. The resources on this site as well as the message board should give you all the help you need to get started. Good Luck

The toughest part of the recruiting process is to being ble to decipher whether or not the interest is sincere.

In too many cases the parents/player take every piece of paper received to be a show of sincere interest.

Part of what we do with our showcase kids and our team members is to speak with the coaches in question regarding interest, playing time possibilities etc.--provided of course that the player/parents request that we take that step.


The invite to a camp can be a very positive thing if they have a specific interest in you and on the other hand it can be "just" a camp invititation.

In many instances where a kid wants to attend a specific camp for instruction more than anything we will call ahead for the boy and speak with the coach so that the player is not just a "number" so to speak and will be noticed.

The process is not easy!!!

colleges send those letter out to everyone,if you attend their camp, it is unpaid recruiting visit for the college.

if you are any good great they will recruit you, if not they still got your money reguardless.

Most recruiting is done at HS Showcases or summer tournaments
