Does school groups and charity work help on your recruting processes? I know that it loves impressive on a resume but do college recruiters for sports also look at this?

Admissions like extra curricular activities. The baseball coach wants to be sure you can play ball.

Besides being able to play ball, coaches like players who are able to show that they like being part of a team. Community service work can accomplish that and usually is a requirement for graduation, but don't be afraid to do more than you have to. Try to get involved with another activity in school, only if it doesn't interfere with your school work or baseball.

In a word, yes.
Blood drives & Habitat for Humanity are great "team" community service activities, among many others.
Even some colleges are requiring volunteer work for graduation (Tulane is one, since Katrina).
