Each time, we've been taken on a tour of the school, weight rooms, met with the compliance person, and study hall area person. they have been intentional to express to me as a parent that they are going to take care of my son as a student as much as an athlete. I like that part. They have shown us the field and given us a tour of the locker room, other areas, and met the coaches last. We have also stayed for a practice. In all of the cases, we have dealt with recruiter and had very little contact with head coach, all of these were D1. It was different with my older son who was being recruited by D2, NAIA, and D3. We dealt almost exclusively with the head coach on the campus. Really depends on size of school and roles of coaches. Take it all in and have fun. Ask as many questions as you have and make sure your son asks questions he has. They are not afraid to share and if they are run away. We have found that most of the coaches are brutally honest.
