I have been invited to participate in a "select invite only tryout camp" for a major league team. There will be athletes from all over the midwest and Canada.

I never really thought I was that good; maybe mid-major D1 at best. What do the scouts hold these tryouts for? Is is to scout potential kids for the draft? Because this has kind of come out of the blue and I guess I'm still a little surprised by it. I have responded that I am attending, but I'm just wondering what this will be like and where this is headed...

Was it a Chicago Fall Scout League Invite from Midwest MLB Scouts? If so, my son received one as well and we kind of had the same questions. He's at best a mid D1 prospect. We were also curious the invitation said it was "free"?!?!

We also had similiar questions - anyone willing to share experiences, thoughts, suggestions?

Cowboyfan- no it is a MN Twins tryout camp held at the Metrodome in little over a week. However, this one is also free. It sounds like they are similar.
