For those of you that have gone through the process...How long does it usually take for the NCAA Clearing House to provide final certification? My 2006's HS sent in the final transcript, etc. about three weeks ago. The clearing house, at this point, still lists these items as "needed".

waynek - Last year my son's HS sent his in immediately (end of May) and it was the end of July I believe - maybe even into August before it was processed. It was only done then because a coach that was following him called and requested the info.

If your son has signed, that coach can call and it will be completed more timely.

Wow, you folks just reminded me. My son ('07) is registered with the Clearinghouse but as yet his counselor has sent nothing. Today's the last day of school, should I remind her? Last time I spoke with her about it, a few months ago, she said she had it under control.

While it's good to get a jump on things, we didn't do the Clearinghouse until last fall. It's not as complicated as it seems.

It varies. Verify with the school that they have sent in the final transcript, its not automatic and usually requires a signed release. Then, IMO, if your senior is not cleared by the end of July, request that the school send a duplicate transcript. Don't panic, you have until school/fall ball starts to get cleared but you're doing all the right stuff by keeping an eye on your son's online Clearinghouse status.

But what about baseball scholarship money that has to be applied to tuition and paid by Aug 1? Can they apply the money without the final clearing?

Deposit came right out of scholarship money. My son is still in school and graduates on Thursday. We won't have a final transcript for weeks.

Well, just spoke with the guidance counselor who says she doesn't send anything to the Clearinghouse until the beginning of the student's senior year. She said that will be fine. I told her I had heard that it was supposed to be sooner, she says no. And by the way, "This is my last day until late August, so, have a nice summer!"

the clearinghouse will be dealing with 06 graduates until fall.

there is no rush for 07's. the same will happen for you next summer. there is no finality to the clearinghouse until they get your final senior grades.

if an 07 sends anything now it will be set aside until all 06's are processed, they are pretty swamped this time of year.

Thanks for that last comment. I keep forgetting that the 06's must certainly take the priority at this time of year.

My son is an '06 and we're still "pending" with the NCAA Clearinghouse. They have everything they need, but say that paperwork is processed in the order it is received. I'm not going to worry since its out of our hands. I would imagine that many '06 grads will be waiting till the last weeks of summer before the requests are processed.
Thanks for the post... it reminded my to check the website and see where we stand!

I never thought about it either. Eek

EDIT: Ok we just checked and it looks like she's good to go. It's kind of confusing though.

The Clearing House site now lists the transcript for our 2006 as received, but not processed. They are sure waiting till the last minute!

We were in a different situation in that we were getting certification from a 2004 graduation (went to an NAIA school out of high school and didn't go through the clearinghouse at that time). Upon transferring to an NCAA school we went back to the Clearinghouse in order to meet all the standards of a "qualifier." It took about 3 weeks for them to acknowledge receipt of the high school transcript. At that point I called them and they said it would be 10 days to 2 weeks following "receipt" of the transcript. It ended up being about 10 days. days. The entire process took the better part of a month and a half.
