I have read a number of posts that recommend that you let coaches from colleges you are interested in know about tournaments or games that you will be at.

How do you approach this from the perspective of not knowing when you will play?

Example. Son plays on a high profile team that will be playing four games in a tournament in So Cal this weekend. Since this is fall baseball they are taking 3 or 4 deep at non pitching positions. Don't know which game or games he might see the field.
Do you just let the coaches know about all four games and hope they come to one he plays in? Should he approach his coach and see if he can get a definite starting assignment so he can inform the college coaches?

Wisdom appreciated.

Your son should definitely give out the schedule for all four games and if possible, he should give his select coach's cell phone number and email address to every college coach he contacts. He should explain that a lot of players will see playing time during this tournament and he is unsure of when he will be playing. He should ask them to contact his select coach for verification of when they can see him play.

Son can also ask for coaches cell number to send updates, and then you can send texts when you find out he is playing. A lot of that happens in Jupiter also.

communication is the key. Be sure to only give information about scheduling. I do believe texting is not allowed by the NCAA. 2010's can get a call from a coach which I think only 1 time a week. 2011's can not receive any call. Most college coaches have access to email via phones so shoot them an email when you find out when you are throwing. Talk to you coach to see if he emailed the schedule and pitching rotation to colleges and scouts. We get calls, texts and emails asking for more information as the tournament rolls around. We always send schedule and rotation ahead of time.

There are no restrictions on how a recruit may contact a coach or how many times. The only restrictions are communications coming from the coaches to the recruit.
