Hey i was just curious what is the level of interest a school has in you if they hand write you a letter...like it must be alright because ive got many many many computer letters from a good amount of schools but this was my first hand written one and i was just curious how much more of interest this particular school has in me by hand writing the letter

Congratulations on your many, many, many computer letters, but hand written letters take much more effort than the mass produced form letters, you may want to respond in kind to the coach that felt it necessary to take the effort to show you the positive interest.

Son got a couple hand written notes from teams that were really interested - one was a JUCO that offered him a full ride. He also got one from an SEC school. They had some interest, but it never went anywhere. I figured that they had a bigger staff and thus had the time to hand write notes to those that were a little further down on their lists - just in case.

I agree with Homerun. I would follow-up as you can be sure they didn't write everybody a personal note.

Much depends on the coach and his recruiting techniques. Ron Polk of Mississippi State was "famous" for sending out hand written letters. (I have a few saved from my son's recruiting era).

Generally speaking I would think the hand written letter is more personal and is intended to have more of an impact than the "mass mailing" computer generated type of letter. One way to find out what a letter "means" is to pick up the phone and ask the sender.
