can anyone explain what I am missing here?
Perhaps the Coach was missing something. Was there a 80 mph wind blowing from CF?

I played against Curtis Granderson in college, he executed a suicide squeeze bunt with two outs in the bottom of the 13th (don't remember the exact inning and he obviously had to beat the throw to first) to win the game. So that one is very strange, but I've actually seen it happen.
Make the routine play!

I would have to say the difference between Curtis Granderson and the player mentioned above is CG runs a sub 6.4. It was probably a bunt for hit that was able to score as opposed to a straight suicide squeeze.
