My HS season ended not long ago so now I'm playing Junior League(Legion) and have struggled in the field lately since not having practice everyday. My father and I went to the field today to shag some flies and I overran nearly 3 or 4 balls. For some reason I can't seem to read the ball well by either having balls one or 2 hop in front of me or over running them. Is there any drill that i could possibly do to help this problem or is it just a mental approach?

More repetition will help. Lots of it.

All you can do is take more fly balls over and over. The main thing is to watch the ball off the bat. You really have to focus on that. You will get much better reads and jumps!

Take an extra hat to the field with you. Instead of attempting to catch the ball you will attempt to drop your hat on the ground underneath where the ball will land. You will learn real quick to stay behind the ball and how to get to the ball because in order to do both you must get to where you need to be.
