What are the general things you have your third basemen do to turn 2? What are they supposed to do on ball hit to their right or left?

Hard hit ball straight on - don't rush and make a good throw to 2B

Ball hit to left - shuffle step to make a good throw to 2B

Ball hit to right - plant right foot and open front side and make strong throw to 2B

Slow hit ball straight on - charge hard and break down with left foot slightly open towards 2B and make strong throw to 2B

Pretty much you want to make a strong / accurate throw to 2B because you need to get the lead runner. Now you can keep the force play in effect if you still don't turn the double play.
