I figure ours will be close, 11 games so far I count 16 E's but I did not score a couple of games so probably close to 20, project to about 35 in a 20 game season, almost all on routine groundballs by the way, usually the throw. Why is he there you will want to know? Daddy coach, also A.D. Kind of humorous in a sick way, my kid just mentally uses high school ball as practice for legion to make it through. Nothing anyone can do or say so we just support the kids individually, team? what team. Winning is out the window. I am sure many of you have similar stories, perhaps a suggestion? Everyone is afraid of the dude's power, worse for your own kid if you say anything, I've been there. tried the school superintendant a couple of years ago, waste of time. School transfer rules suck in this state. By the way there are 3 guys who would be better shortstops on the team, so there are options for a coach who cared.

yea, thats rough...you'd need a group of people to take action, b/c if one player does s/t, u no he's being benched...You need like ALL the pitchers to say something...

Smalltown: I saw it once just like you describe except the player wasn't related to coach: the coach just really liked the kid... Had a ton of errors. The weird thing was the kid was a good hitter and could have been DH or at least tried outfield... but nope there he was every single game at ss... ?????
The best things in life aren't things.

smalltown, are you in kansas?...cause your situation sounds alot like what is happening on our hs team...3 rd baseman...coaches son...all fielding attempts this season have been errors...bats in the number 5 spot ahead of 2 young men with higher averages and on base percentages...what worries me is that will this coach be able to nominate other players for all league or all state honors ahead of his son?..i kinda doubt it...and what about when the colleges come calling...will he be positve about other players?...one can only hope!

We all love those kids you just can figure out why they are on the field. In our case he will start again next season. Man, those must be some nasty pictures.
I feel really bad for the poor kid making all these errors - how can he face his team and his pitchers after each game? He must be really scared of his dad/coach.

the assistant coach at my school, married one of my friends moms (hes on the baseball team), and so hes been on varsity starting since his freshman year. However, this is contrary to what you guys are experienceing. He is a flat out studly ballplayer. He could throw a frozen rope from center to homeplate with a single crow hop from a standstill. his arm has gotten even stronger and more accurate since last year. Unfortunately, he hasn't recognized his calling as an outfielder. hes pretty darn fast too, but now he catches and play ss. I just hope he doesn't get killed playing football, because he has the potential to be a pro. Maybe not majors, but definintely could play minors if he keeps at it like he is right now. We thought he was just on varsity because the coach is his stepdad, but thats before we knew how good he was.
