This is gonna be a tough transition. Typically catchers play 3rd or 1st and maybe LF as secondary positions.

Start working on quickness/foot work drills asap. get an infielders glove no bigger than 11.5" max (smaller better). Take alot of reps on groundballs. Practice throwing sidearm. Practice shovel type throws underhand.

Don't forget hitting...gives the coach a reason to keep you in the lineup in case your fielding is a bit suspect.

2nd requires you cover alot of terrority; often more than the SS ever covers such as when the 1st baseman is holding a runner on. Don't care how fast you run the 60 yd in but you better be real quick covering 30 yds.

These are just starting points...until you can do these things, some of the other stuff really won't mean much.

Hey, Craig Biggio is retired, maybe he has time enough on his hands to help you out?

Before you do anything you better revise your myspace page----no coach will even talk to you with that title---and you can trust me on that

No but I can help you get there.

You step back from home plate. Take off all the heavy smelly stuff you've been wear'n. Throw that funky glove in the dug out, pick up a short funny looking one. Grab a hat and walk out in the infield about 2/3rds of the way between 1st base and 2nd move back about 10 steps toward the outfield.

Once you get out there run in circles yell'n at the top of your lungs......I AM FREE..... I AM FREE..... I AM FREE.....I AM FREE….

BTW go to www.webball.com there may be some stuff there that might help.
