Would these be alright for its purpose?

It depends. If the sunglasses are really dark when u put them on I wouldnt wear them. I tried a pair out a few weeks ago and they were really dark and I couldnt track the ball. So I went to Dunhams and for 30 bucks I found a nice pair from Easton that blocks the sun and its like still clear like your seeing out of glasses. They are perfect for baseball.
