Can anyone help this Florida Mom? My son will be an 2010 graduate and we lost our best coach in the world due to ignorant people. He was our greatest hope for getting our son to the next level.

was he your high school coach or travel team coach? if it was your high school coach. What you can to is still use him as a reference. In fact, have that coach talk to his prospective college coaches or have his letter of recommendation ready to submit to any interested colleges. Also, have the new coach do the same. The old coach can really, really still help you out.... Don't give up hope.

I am generally a lurker but I can tell you all the advice you will need is on this site. Spend a few minutes a day here and you become almost ovewhelmed with the knowledge.

Here is a pretty good thread: http://hsbaseballweb.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4686003481/m/3291084362

Hello floridamom404. Please take our advice and get what you can from it. I am in central florida, and I can tell you that no coach is going to get your son to the next level. Many may assist, contribute and guide, but only your son can get himself to the next level. I have instructed hundreds of young people and only those that have A. the talent and B. the work ethic and desire will go on to better things. If this coach or instructor was worth his weight, tell your son to take what he has learned and apply it. As he grows and matures, and continues to work hard, he will see his way to opportunities. I am available for a look and a chat during the season. Wish you and your son well.

Sometimes I sits and I thinks, sometimes I just sits.

Hello Floridamom. I am a 17U catcher as well. I will be honest that no coach has ever got me signed to a D1 college. Like others have said use him as a strong reference but if you want your kid to get noticed go out to Showcases, contact coaches sending them your kids schedules and etc. My coach honestly hasn't done much for me all of my scholarships came from me talking to the college coaches themselves, setting up meetings, and letting them watch me play. You'll have a lot more fun with all of this his senior year Smile
