For those of you who enjoy the British perspective ---- and you know you opened this up because you recognized the Monty Python segue. Here's a Brit's commentary on, oddly enough, baseball......

Actually, he's not "making fun of fat people", he's poking a bit of fun at apparently overweight, paid, professional athletes.

Never spotted you for the oversensitive and/or PC type, cong. Live and learn.

Considering the history of the jokes I pass along here... I guess I fooled you all on this one.... Razz

BTW, I still don't think it's funny.... could care less what people say about overpaid atheletes and their eating habits Smile I just didn't think this article was funny....

And to call up the holy name of Monty Python with this stinky attempt at humour (note the Brit spelling) is blastphemy!!!!

Listen and LearnSmile

Having lived in England for nearly ten years, let me share a little secret: Monty Python was not a comedy troupe....those were actually documentaries; kind of like what Fellini did for Italy Wink.

This writer is more a student of the Blackadder-Red Dwarf-Fawlty Towers Brit humor. Put it this way: if anyone thinks Benny Hill is British humor (or even humour....or even funny), this article would be pretty much completely unintelligible.

Different strokes, guys, if we all liked the same things, think how small the shopping malls would be.....

That's the great thing about British humour, they make fun of everyone, including themselves, what a relief for non-PC attitudes, as you say gotwood4sale!

Oh yes, mine, too --- particularly Blackadder Goes Fourth. Got the 4 season set which gets plenty of play, beating, as it does, pretty much anything other than live baseball on the television.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Blackadder alum Hugh Laurie on 'House', and there are shadows of the Upper Class Twit there every once in a while.

umm.....I believe it's smeg, actually, as an abbreviation of one of those...um....words that always cropped up in a game of Really Ugly Word. (Although shmeg could be in the Yiddish version, Red Karlik Wink)

I'd define the complete word, but the King of The Potato People won't let me.

Well there was this episode where Rimmer had the rest of the crew in isolation because of potential exposure to viruses (like "luck" which was a really good virus), only Rimmer got Crazy and there was a Pippi Longstocking wig involved and he really would have let them out of isolation except "the King of the Potato People won't let me". (whew)

Anyway, at home on our spaceship, the King is invoked much in the same way as our parents said "because I said so".

I don't know about all this Monty Python stuff much, but I do know that Benny Hill was about the funniest show on TV to me. I loved that show.
