I happened to be watching Creighton vs Kansas State this evening on CSTV at Rosenblatt Stadium. Nothing out of the ordinary for a college game until the last 2 innings when Creighton University brought in a an ambidextrous pitcher by the name of Pat Vinitte. I thought I had seen everything until tonight! This young man is amazing! He is from Omaha Me. Tonight he got the win in 2 innings of relief and changed sides mid inning a few times. After the game, I went to Creighton's website and read an article from the NY times about him. He uses a custom mit that allows him to change sides . From what I saw this evening, he is as effective as a lefty as he is from his natural side as a right handed pitcher. What a treat to watch!

.

You guys haven't seen anything yet...just wait 'til this guy gets on the mound!

Seriously...that is very cool about Pat Venditte. And we'll have to keep an eye on that kid from Iona Prep. I'm impressed.

Creighton University Bluejays No.27 Pat Venditte LHP/RHP B/B 6-1 190 Sr. Omaha, Neb. (Omaha Central HS)

Don't believe it?

Go on...have a look or two. Enjoy!

So, when he gets drafted, will he get a double signing bonus, since some club will be getting a righty and a lefty? Wink

Son played on a summer team a few years ago that had a boy that pitched from the left on Friday and the right on Sat. He was equally effective both ways and was very good. (I think he originally signed with Maine, but son told me he was no longer there.) I thought that was just amazing!!!

Puma1,

Young man was David Ricker. He came back and was playing at UNCA, don't know if he is still there or not.

He was very impressive from both sides, mid to upper 80's.

David Ricker was at UNC-A this season but is red-shirting to get over an injury he had earlier in the year. Back in the Fall my son said that was really weird watching him pitch from one side and then turn around and throw from the other side.

It appears they can switch during an inning on the mound ... but can they switch during an at-bat if the one arm isn't being effective against the batter?

And if he can switch during an inning ... what does he do with the extra glove? 14

He has a custom glove that allows him to use it either way.
